Content

The Art of Early and High Middle Ages in Western Europe offers a comprehensive presentation of artistic types in their formal and iconographic development from Early Middle Ages to the end of Romanesque. Presentation of development is set in a context of social and other cultural conditions. Attention is given primarily to artistic development in countries that influenced the development of arts in Slovenia. Lectures keep an eye esp. to major monuments and artistic complexes that offer place to analytic and interpretative methods of art history as well, and give possibility to follow the relativity of some scientific thesis’; thus they follow the development of the discipline, and point out new methods of research. Students have the possibility to form a critical, responsible and rationalistic relation toward objects of art-historical research and toward the discipline itself. The concept of the topic offers information of relevant terminology and scientific literature as well.
