The course is divided into two units:
a) English-Slovene Contrastive Grammar 1
b) ESP for Translators

English-Slovene Contrastive Grammar 1:
Students upgrade their grammatical competences gained during the first two years of the cycle, extending their knowledge to the contrastive grammar between English and Slovene. They gain familiarity with the translation-relevant contrastive analysis methods and topics: noun-oriented tendency in English, aspectuality, indirect discourse, passive voice, (in)animate subject, non-finite verb forms, discourse-relevant translation strategies with proper names. The contrastive topics are discussed for their frequency and their specific features within their relevant types of discourse.
ESP for Translators:
Students deal with a series of topics which help them build up their specific topic-related vocabulary and cultivate idiomatic English usage. Oral expression techniques aim to sensitize students to the form of individual presentations as well as organized classroom discussion. Written expression techniques investigate advanced forms of the writing process, which students apply to the writing skills gained during the first two years.
