a) Specificities of contemporary Chinese literary theory. Analysis of politically conditioned ideological elements and their changes in the literature of the 2nd half of the 20th century.
b) Overview and analysis of contemporary chinese literature (the most prominent authors and their works), based in the interpretation of respective historical political, philosophical and aesthetic currents.
c) The emphasis is on recognizing literary elements that emerged in the first decades of the 20th century, especially under the influence of Russian social realism and the guidelines of Mao Zedong's Yan'an Discourse on Literature and Art, and on the impact of Deng Xiaoping’s policy of liberalizing and opening up China to the outside world.
d) Review and analysis of modern and contemporary Chinese literature from the second half of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century (the most important representatives and their works), including the influences of central Russian and later Western, literary currents.
