As part of lectures: overview of the Vedic verbal system (in juxtaposition with its development in the classical post-Vedic period), origin and development of the individual personal endings in light of their synchronic patterns and their Proto-Indo-European background. Verbal morphology of the present system in comparison with other major archaic Indo-European languages.

As part of the tutorial: students are encouraged to use and expand their knowledge of descriptive and historical grammar of Old Indic. Through guided and gradually independent reading of non-adapted original prose texts they continue to build up their vocabulary and gain confidence in dealing with the more complex features of syntax.
