Framework topics: Greek democracy; Greek society in Classical and Hellenistic period; cultural history; Greek influence to the neighbouring areas of the Balkans, the Danube area and the Adriatic states. Reading and commenting on basic texts on the Athens state and social order; social conditions in Ancient Greece, emphasizing the problem of slavery. Greek cultural impact on the peoples in the European space, which the Greek came into intensive contact with (Celts, Thracians, Illyrians, Scythians, peoples of Ancient Italy). Greek colonisation of Adriatic countries and their development under Greek influence. Reading and commenting on sources on Greek presence on today’s Slovenian area and neighbouring lands. In topic the seminar relates mostly to Archaeology.
